Kildonan Karate Club is a purpose-built martial arts studio located at 1115 Henderson Highway in Winnipeg, Manitoba. At KKC we teach Shotokan Karate and are proud to be affiliated with the World Traditional Karate Organization (WTKO) and WTKO Canada. WTKO Canada has several dojos, many of which are located here in Manitoba.
We offer classes for children ages 6 and up, teens, and adults of all ages. Classes run 6 days a week.
Our knowledgeable instructors all have a long history in karate with over 150 years of combined experience.
Karate training promotes self-confidence, self-discipline, self-control, and helps to improve mental focus and memory.

A fun introduction to karate for young children that teaches discipline, develops strength, agility, and spatial awareness. Prepares students for further karate study in our general classes.
Energetic classes designed to improve and refine the fundamentals of karate practice and overall body mechanics using a combination of solo work, partner work, and pad work.
A 16-week rotating curriculum covering kihon (fundamentals), kata (forms), and kumite (sparring) testing requirements. Students also learn the basics of breakfalling, close-quarters grappling, and kata applications.

Sensei Steve Burch is a 2nd Degree Black Belt with the World Traditional Karate Organization (WTKO) and has been training in Karate for over 20 years while teaching for approximately 15 years. Sensei Steve has trained under some of the best instructors in the world and continues to seek out the best Karate instruction available.
Sensei Phil Harris is a 5th degree black belt with over 30 years of experience. He began his karate training at the JKA of Manitoba headquarters on 52 Albert street where he trained for 10 years before moving on to teach at Charleswood Karate and his own dojo, Heijoshin Karate. A seasoned competitor, he was JKA/ISKF Provincial Grand Champion five times, and has represented Manitoba and Canada on the national and international level.
Dr. La Royce Batchelor is a 3rd degree black belt with over 15 years of karate experience. Sensei Batchelor started karate in Winnipeg at Charleswood karate but moved to Grand Forks to pursue her PhD. It was there that she founded her own dojo Hisshou Karate. While living in the USA, she competed at the USA ISKF Nationals and won 4 gold, 2 silver, and 6 bronze medals in her competitive career.
Sensei Don Enns is a 3rd degree black belt with over 40 years of experience. He began training at the JKA of Manitoba HQ under Sensei Phillip Dingman. He is one of the founding members of the East St. Paul JKA club where he trained and taught alongside his friend and mentor Sensei Terry Proctor. A self-proclaimed "karate elder", Sensei Enns continues to train and believes that older people can reap the benefits of karate well into their later years.
Sensei Phil Hay is a 3rd degree black belt with over 30 years of experience. He began his training at the JKA of Manitoba HQ with his entire family. He earned his shodan (1st degree black belt) and nidan (2nd degree) under Master Yutaka Yaguchi, and his sandan (3rd) under Master Woon-a-Tai. Before joining Kildonan Karate in 2017, Sensei Hay had trained and taught at both Charleswood Karate and Heijoshin Karate.
Senpai Devin is a 1st degree black belt with 6 years of experience. He began his training in 2011 with Sensei Harris as one of Heijoshin Karate's very first students. Senpai Devin returned to karate at KKC in 2018 after a 2 year hiatus and quickly rediscovered his passion for karate, training relentlessly. He was awarded his shodan (1st degree black belt) under Sensei Scott Middleton in 2019.

Kildonan Karate is proudly registered as a service organization with Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities. Families in financial need can apply for individual child grants to help cover the costs of karate classes.
